..You have a blog running and you want to expand your reach , you want to offer quality content and help people so that they trust you.On the other hand millions of blogs are publishing new material every single day.The competition on any niche is unbearable.
You have tried articles , created infographics , produced awesome videos and interviewed influencers. But still you are in a hunt for a unique selling proposition that could boost your brand’s name out there.
But who is your audience? … Humans , not machines
Humans need a personal touch , they are getting bored of all these endless advertisements. The last 50-60 years we experienced tremendous changes in our planet. But internet is providing us with a huge opportunity , to make connections with people all over the world.
An online blog can be used as a bridge to make that happen.
Have you ever shared a personal story with your audience as a blogger?
You might not like that approach but did you ever try it?.. but even if you have not shared any story on your blog … I bet you have shared a story at least with a friend.Somewhere , somehow , you exchanged stories with close friends.
But why?
You were not thinking of it , it was spontaneous , it had to come out. This is the human nature , we can’t hold our secrets inside of us , it is killing us.
And there were times that when I did that I felt relieved , I had someone to listen , someone who cared and understood.
Let’s Try to Discover some Advantages of Storytelling for your Blog and your Audience
I want to begin with the cliche phrase ..“Stories can move mountains”… and I strongly believe in the Giant Power of these four little words.
Storytelling can be implemented in a blog or other marketing resources in various forms and types. It could be a fiction story , or a real and personal one , a combination , a story of a friend , something you heard of from a third party.
You can even add narrative elements to an incomplete story and finish it.You could improvise in a constructive and well-disposed way.Your objective is to connect with people so that they understand you.
Grabs Attention Immediately
I remember as a kid I was shocked every time my grand ma was sharing a story of her brothers during the second world war. Those stories were painful , believe me , even as a kid , I could feel my grand ma stressed and sometimes I watched her crying.
Her , a kid among 10 brothers and sisters , survived the tough war.She was younger and lucky. But some of her brothers , the older male members were not so lucky … They had been tortured and sacrificed …
… yes this is the truth. It hurts but it is true.
I was there to understand and compassion , she had someone to tell.
But I was also amazed whenever my mom was telling me a story before I go to sleep.Stories of success , how she managed to quit her job and build something on her own when her boss could not understand her vision and admit her huge accomplishments. She felt betrayed , ignored , abandoned.
At the same time she was a fighter and took the risk , although she was in need of money.Later she met my father and they decided to become entrepreneurs , partners in life and business.
Those stories inspired me , I can’t remember exact details , I was too young , but I received the “spirit”.
Puts People in Your Shoes
They feel that what you are sharing could have happened to them. And this is what is happening when I read a story on a blog , in a newspaper , a magazine , when someone talks…“Yeah , it could be me”…And always at the end of every story you are stronger , you are empowered with knowledge and experience ,even if you did not experienced it yourself.Someone else did but now it becomes a part of you , too.
A well known method used by psychologists and doctors – Motivation , Inspiration
Why alcohol addicted people unite together in speaking groups?…Storytelling is a magic process , people with different cultures , habits combine and mix.
Members of these groups analyse other people’s stories and compare them to similar incidents of their lives. An exchange of words for a common goal.
Positive and success stories can motivate people while negative or failure stories can inspire us and become examples to avoid.
Entertainment – Emotions
Modern and old marketing tactics focus on people’s emotions. If a campaign can trigger emotions it could be remembered.Humans can recall information better when you present the data in a storytelling way.We can not always read about facts , rules and numbers. We need to be entertained and feel that personal connection with the author , blogger , speaker.
The stories spark an emotional chemical flame that sticks in people’s minds.By humans for humans.
Loyalty – Brand Awareness – Trust – Uniqueness
When you are connected as a human being , sharing your stories , is enough to attract people around you. They had to deal with a real person , that’s all they need. They hate to consume data written by machines or software spinners.
Storytelling transforms your content into something unique immediately.Similar stories can be found but always there is a new edge , a new point of view , another angle.
They will revisit your blog because they will have something to wait for.An author that is sharing his thoughts and concerns , not a marketing “Robot” trying to make sales.
This is where trust comes into play.It opens doors for co-operation and relationships. It provides extreme value.
Enough with the “Sales Pitch” , enough with the discounts , offers and exclusive bonuses.I am not saying they are not necessary weapons for your campaigns but do not overuse them.
Instead try to connect in a friendly way.

What to Do when You Hate your Job – A Personal Story
What an important concept! It is so easy to get caught up in trying to sell a product that we forget who we are selling to. Our job as affiliate marketers is not to sell products, but to help people find the products that best fit their needs. I love your personal story within this post that beautifully illustrates your point of being personal with your audience. Great article!
Welcome Rachel , you are very kind.Yes , we always forget about this , myself included , we are trying to sell instead of helping out.It is something we have to make a habit.I decided from now on to present facts and other information while sharing some personal experiences and stories.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your beautiful comments.Good luck with your work.
