Since we cut off the prices for sponsored content by 90% we stepped into a nightmare. Manina, my assistant, is exhausted replying to emails and reviewing applications that we eventually reject.

Hundreds of rejected submissions. From mid-February to June. It’s 3 months now and we only accepted a few serious sponsorships.

Sponsored Content Platform Update

It’s really awful having people and brands negotiate our existing ultra-affordable prices.

We set the price of a sponsored article to $7.9 and we had over 50 brands wanting to pay $5.

We set the price of a sponsored text ad to $1.5, they wanted to get it for free.

From a certain point on, I started playing their game to see what they are up to.

I started saying OK, let’s do it at $6, let’s do it at $5 whatever price they were setting on their own.

Then, they were submitting 100-word articles and they also wanted to earn do-follow links.


Beyond the fact that it is disrespectful to us, it’s also harmful to you as well. Do you think that visitors will read this 100-word article and will click your ad to visit your site?

Before you start advertising your brand, consider if you provide enough value to our readers to earn their trust.

It’s explicitly set in our terms, we do not provide do-follow links for sponsored articles, we don’t even do that for guest posts.

All sponsored ads and content and guest posts are assigned the rel=sponsored or rel=ugc attributes. No exception can be made.


Other brands had a problem having their ad displayed as a sponsored ad. But that is exactly what it is. A sponsored ad.

If you are not proud enough to become a sponsor, simply don’t do it.

You can alternatively use shady platforms where they sell links en mass. We are not here to exchange, sell, or buy links. We are here to provide value to the marketplace. 

Visitors don’t have a problem seeing an ad as sponsored, it’s natural and it’s transparent. 

Why big brands don’t have a problem showing up as sponsors? Because they don’t think small.

Other sponsors had a problem showing up their author’s face. Other sponsors wanting us to take the authorship of their articles or publish them anonymously. I can’t really explain such behaviors but I understand, everyone is different and have their own reasons.

Other sponsors wanted to advertise their gym, their restaurant, their hotel, their client’s hairstyle practice. This is a blog about business and marketing. At least, be relevant.

So, we decided to change things a little bit.

New Prices

We decided to roll back to our original prices, no discounts from now on. 

We tried to help so many brands by reducing our prices by 90% off. 

Now, we will focus on collaborating only with serious sponsors.

You will have the chance to see the new prices later today on the sponsored content platform

Terms & Conditions

We are also updating our terms and conditions at this moment. I believe that by the end of the weekend the new terms will go live.

But one thing is for sure.

We will be accepting only homepage submissions. We do not link to articles, blogs, lists, or even landing pages.

We link only to homepages. Then it’s up to you to earn visitors’ trust.

We are also thinking of setting a timeframe for certain sponsored text or banner ads. That means your sponsored ads may expire.

We will only be accepting quality content, this does not change.

Also, and this is very important.

All sponsored articles from now on will be tagged as sponsored articles at the beginning of the article as well along with the use of the rel=sponsored attributes in the links. 

Plus, you will be allowed to link only once to your homepage.
