We are prepared.

Re-writing a section of the main framework at the moment and a surprise new underground strategy for only a few of us.

More people are joining me. I can’t thank you enough!

Heading for interviews laughing

A lot of people struggle to pay the bills nowadays. Take my country for example, every day a store is closed, someone is getting fired, another is losing properties due to debts. Local brick and mortar businesses, especially medium and small size are dying.

On the other hand, governments are in freeze mode, cannot control their own debts, capitals and human resources.

You might be one of those who has been through some tough times or you need some extra money and you do your research to find out if this is possible online.

Yes, you Can Make Extra Money Online – from the Comfort of your Home

But there is a problem, a huge one. Not all online opportunities are legitimate and not all companies will pay for your work. If you have been following my reviews you have a better understanding of what I mean.

There are countless scams out there, bad “entrepreneurs” (if we can call them that way) that only looking to trap you with their luxurious offers.

Systems and programs that are promising to turn you into a millionaire overnight are born every day and mass advertised online. But these systems do not work, they work only for their producers, who usually disappear quickly and come back later with a new business under a new name.

Legitimate Ways to Make Money Online

Unfortunately or should I say fortunately, the legitimate opportunities won’t make you rich in a blink of an eye. But neither offline businesses will.In every legit business, you have to invest in money and personal work.

But if you want to make some extra bucks online you don’t have to worry about investing in money. You only need to invest in yourself (in most cases).

Get Paid to Complete Tasks and Offers.

Probably the most popular way is participating in surveys. There are companies and websites that are paying people for giving away their opinion. Don’t wait to get rich, this is just a way for some extra money. The bad news is that almost every company has a minimum threshold before you receive any check.

Sign up with many companies and test them out. Keep only those that are notifying you via emails so that you won’t lose time in visiting their websites every day to find out if there is any survey available. Make sure they do pay with PayPal.

Recently I got paid by Mobrog and I have completed a few surveys with Clixsense. Note down that Clixsense is mostly a site to get paid by clicking on ads. But I won’t recommend you to get involved in such a process, not yet. The only way to make real money by clicking on ads is to build a huge downline of referrals, and that requires special skills and other tools (like a website…more on that later). I suggest you get involved with PTC sites at a later time when you will be able to recruit people with your own website.

Swagbucks is very popular among many bloggers and is a website that offers surveys and other micro-tasks. But it is available only in a few countries. I have not tested Swagbucks myself for that reason. But there are many positive reviews online and that means people are getting paid.

You earn points and receive gift cards that you can redeem at Amazon, Walmart or get cash back from Paypal.

Fiverr is another marketplace that you can use in order to sell your expertise or to buy services. Their slogan is …“What you need to be done?…Find it on Fiverr , browse, buy, done.”..Their sections include

  • Graphics and designs, Marketing, Writing & Translation
  • Video, Animation, Audio, Music
  • Programming, Tech, Advertising, Business

and much more

Further, there are companies that pay people to test apps, software, cosmetics, video games or even websites. Other companies pay people to listen and edit music tracks or to give their opinion.More on that subject in a future post.

Setting Up an Online Store

E-commerce platforms

Amazon FBA – Let them pick, pack and ship your orders. With FBA you store your products in Amazon’s fulfillment centers and they handle the shipping and provide customer service. You can move away a lot of headaches.

It would not be easy to trade and ship alone.

Ebay – Of course, you know eBay, I have no doubt on that. Probably you have already purchased something from their stores. Perfect for used items and small size store owners.

They say that selling on eBay is easy as 1-2-3. List it – Ship it – Get paid. Final value fees apply for successful sales.

The top selling products on eBay right now are

  • Smartphones, tablets, cameras, laptops
  • Video games, games consoles, headphones & mp3 players

If you want to avoid inventory you can co-operate with drop shipping companies who act like Amazon, they store the products and ship them directly to your customers.

In every case be professional and follow their video guidelines.

  • Write effective, detailed listings.
  • Take great product photos
  • Choose a competitive online pricing policy.
  • Leave feedback and respond to buyers.
  • Create a Paypal account (Paypal is the currency of online transactions). The vast majority of websites work that way, you will need one account, this is an obligation.

This section applies for Amazon as well, and generally as a rule of thumb in online businesses.

Etsy – You can open a store, similar to Amazon or eBay and list your physical products.Their categories

  • Clothing & accessories, Jewellery, Craft supplies & tools
  • Weddings, entertainment, Home & living, Kids, Vintage

Millions of shoppers can’t wait to see what you have in store. Etsy’s commission is 3.5% (plus 4% on payments processing) and they offer a variety of tools to promote your business and to get educated.

Big Cartel – If you are into the arts & crafts industry you will want to check this website as they give you the opportunity to set up a store at zero cost. There are premium memberships as well. For more details follow my review.

This is only a handful of e-commerce platforms, feel free to search on your own if you are not satisfied with any of these suggestions.

Digital Products

Webdesigner depot , Creative Market , Hungry Jpeg, Pond5, EnvatoMarket, Renderosity

In all these marketplaces designers and artists from all over the world list their artwork. They get paid whenever someone buys and the companies keep their cut and you don’t have to worry about setting up a website on your own. Make sure to present a powerful portfolio and double check your competitor’s prices.

Vectors, illustrations, photoshop actions, mock-ups, brochures and photographs, videos/footages are among the most popular categories.

Shutterstock – If you are a photographer and you want to list your photos Shutterstock is a great place to begin. Upon signing you will receive a detailed e-book on how to sell photographs online. Instructions, restrictions, policies and techniques are all presented in a professional way.

Additionally, you can sell graphic designs or even video footages and music tracks.

Canva – It is an image creation application but there is a section for people looking to work.

Piktochart – It is an application to create infographics on your own using templates.

BeFunky – a photo editing application, like Photoshop.

PowToon – a video animation maker, one of the greatest apps I have ever used.

Hootsuite – a social media automation tool.

All these companies are those that I have personally reviewed. Designers, programmers and other professionals can benefit from their open spots. Check their guidelines and apply as recommended.

Literally, there are thousands of companies looking for people to work for them. On every website that you visit, make it a habit and look on their footer. Search for terms like “Careers” or “Employment”….If you don’t see any of these terms and you think they might be looking for people do not hesitate to contact them.

Freelance Writing

There are companies that pay writers for posts and articles. But you have to present yourself as a professional with experience. That means you will need a portfolio. Prepare some awesome samples of your work, enough to let them understand your style but not too many.

The best way to present your portfolio is a blog or website but if you want to avoid this part you can alternatively create an account on LinkedIn. This network is strictly for professionals and you need to present yourself as an authority. Make sure to complete a powerful biography, fully detailed.

If you want to master your LinkedIn profile this article by Hubspot will help you .. big time.

Apply with as many companies as you can.

A List Apart – Write for us they say … If you’ve got an idea that can challenge our readers and move our industry forward, we want to hear about it. Can you bring those readers a fresh perspective on a topic that is keeping you up at night?…Then apply. There are full instructions and guidelines.

iWriter – Sign up and get paid by writing articles for other people. There are bloggers and companies that don’t want to hire people so they use external sources, like this one. You can earn up to $15 per article. You might think that is a low salary but this website has minimum limitations as you can

  • Select the topic you wish to write about
  • Write as much as you want at your own pace

There are many other companies, all with different restrictions and guidelines.

This process will take some time and of course, you can’t expect to get hired immediately. But as you progress and improve your writing skills, empowering your portfolio, do expect amazing results. Hundreds of successful freelancers enjoy a unique lifestyle.

My very favorite – Setting up a Website with a Blog

I am a blogger, this is a blog post and this is a website where you can buy products and services.

A website is the most difficult highway in order to make money online … but you guessed right … it is the most profitable of all, it can return higher ROI on your time and work. The limit is the sky with this option as I will analyze in a few lines. But it takes longer before you see any results.

Reasons are the high competition and that search engines will keep you in the dark before you convince them that you are a decent entrepreneur.

I want to be crystal clear, right from the beginning.I always push people to become entrepreneurs.

and take control on their hands. Because everyone deserves a better life, and anyone is capable of achieving success.

Here is my question … Can you help others sharing your knowledge or expertise on a subject?…so that can learn from you and improve their lives or solve a particular problem.

I guess you have some special skills and there are millions of people who are amateurs in your field, just starting out. Do you think you can help these people? …

If you can, then I have good news, websites hide countless opportunities for everyone.

Blogging – every website runs its own blog. Without it, you are like a store without inventory. This is your digital portfolio. The blog posts. The more you create and the more you help people, the more you will be found.

In order to make money, you will need online traffic first and that can be accomplished by publishing quality content on a regular basis.

Once you have the traffic you can monetize your website in various ways.

Affiliate Programs – There are thousands of companies that will pay you commissions for sales that are generated through your affiliate links.

In a nutshell, the process is very simple. Visitors find something interesting online (search engines, social media, ads) and they get redirected to your website that offers free information.

Then they visit the merchant’s website following your affiliate links. If they complete some kind of action on the merchant’s website (purchase, sign up a form, download software and and and….) you get paid a commission.

The products and services you advertise have to be relevant to your blog’s category (the niche). For example, it would not be nice if I was promoting clothes or gym equipment on this website.

Have in mind that as you progress and add blog posts to your portfolio you will be discovering new companies. New opportunities for you. The companies are endless and you can track them easier by signing up with affiliate networks. Some of the networks I would recommend is CJ and ShareASale.

Those affiliate networks act as a medium between blogs (websites) and merchants. They handle the transactions and provide statistics and other useful data in order to track your progress and maximize your earnings.

For more information, I refer you to my articles.

Relevant posts

Advertising  – you can sell advertising space on your website. One of the most popular ways is Google Adsense. When someone clicks on your ad banners you are getting a commission. You need high volumes of traffic in order to make serious money with this type of ads.

You can additionally rent or sell ad space to other websites or blogs.

Subscriptions / Memberships – You can offer special services in exclusive departments on your website. Only members with a password will have the chance to reach your material and will pay you on a preset basis. The content you will be creating here has to be unique, something they can’t find elsewhere easily.

It can be a newsletter or a webinar.

Your own digital products and services – As you move forward your skills and expertise will give you the opportunity to create products that you can sell.

eBooks are very popular. A lot of bloggers at some point create one and they use their blog as a magnet for traffic. As long as you provide value and you are promoting or advertising your services effectively expect awesome results.

ebooks are not the only option, the catalog is endless here, you can create infographics or videos or photo packages.

Training or coaching courses is another tool that many marketers use.

Don’t forget to create a You-Tube channel as well, video blogging has become a must nowadays.

Email marketing – as you attract online traffic at some point you will try to grab your visitor’s emails by offering something valuable in exchange.

eBooks, PDF’s, exclusive graphics or special blog posts are very popular.

Email can be used in order to send affiliate offers as well.As you progress more products will be added to your arsenal and indeed, email marketing can return the highest ROI of all techniques. But it will take time before you see some serious traffic and people start to trust you,

70% of companies say that retaining a customer cost less than acquiring new ones. And they do say that for a reason.

Don’t let another year pass by

If you need some extra money, one way or another, then you should get in action.Don’t wait for a miracle…Remember, these are only a handful of options that exist online. Internet is so huge and keeps growing every day.

I am waiting for your comments and thoughts. Are you using any of these tactics in order to make money online?…What are your favorite ways?…Till next time.

  1. Dan

Blogging is definitely the best option for me. I’ve been looking for ways to earn money online for a while. Blogging just seemed like something that I could do. I’ve always liked creating things, and this seemed hands on enough for me. If you’re tired of freelance writing due there being a limit to how much you can make, then blogging is a platform that can potentially make you a lot more!

    • Tasos

      Welcome Dan

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this thread. When I first got started with blogging I thought it would lead to nowhere. How surprised I feel today knowing the real power behind it. And I agree is way better than freelancing for others. Why do that when you can create something so solid for yourself.

      Good luck with your projects!

  2. Alyssa

    Hi Tasos,
You are right! Making money from home takes time, dedication, and an investment in yourself. If it was easy…everyone would do it. There are a few websites in your article I definitely want to check out. Particularly -iWriter. I hadn’t heard of them. And I can vouch for shareasale and Commission Junction (CJ). They are fairly easy to join and have extensive merchant networks. Have you looking into Flexjobs yet? It’s got verified (vetted) 00% work from home job listings.
    Thanks for the great information.

    • Tasos

Nothing is easy in this life Alyssa , but this is where the real beauty lies in.I am glad you enjoyed my list of resources , and these are only a small portion of the market.

I have heard some things about Flexjobs , have not used their services yet.I will definitely check them out.Thank you for this addition and for your kind words. All my best and good luck with your projects.

Agree with you those get paid programs won’t take us far. It is unlikely that we can make a living doing just that. It’s Pennies to the Dollar.Spending too much time to earn too little.

Yes, setting up a blog is the rare gem where you can learn how to build your online business. It takes real effort and time but the reward is well worth it. Thank you for sharing!

    • Tasos

Totally agree Fred , the best option is setting up a website in order to build a real online business with high potential. If you can afford not to get paid for the first months then nothing could stop you.

Thank you for this visit and for taking the time to participate in the discussion.

  4. Pitin

I have tried selling stuff on Ebay, proof reading and writing articles for Fiverr buyers, and doing animation and graphic design jobs in Odesk (now up work). It is very tiring! I agree with your favourite – setting up a blog. It is quite easy especially that nowadays everything can be done with a push of a button. How do you get clients that are looking for their websites to be setup? Do they pay well?

    • Tasos

I see what you mean Pitin. That is why I recommend the blog highway. It is a method that sets a foundation for the long run.No quick results can be expected but the awaiting time is well worthy.

But if someone is looking for some quick bucks the other methods can be very effective too.But as you say , it is not a piece of cake.

Some clients pay well , some don’t … I am always in a hunt..

Thank you for this visit and for sharing your valuable experience. All my best.
