I started investigating a very powerful marketing platform. My goal was to discover if Brevo lives up to its promises. What I found was anything but simple.
Brevo presents itself as a 4.6-star platform with over 3,450 reviews on Capterra alone. A success story. A European CRM champion. The all-in-one marketing platform that charges by email volume, not contacts – making it the affordable alternative to Mailchimp.
But dig deeper and everything changes.
So I read everything – every review, every forum thread, every Reddit rant and YouTube comment, from solopreneurs and marketing managers, agencies and eCommerce owners.
I looked at the 5-star praises and the 1-star nightmares. I analysed the 4-star, 3-star and 2-star reviews too.
I scoured Trustpilot, where 13% of reviewers gave 1 star.
I joined Reddit threads where developers share technical frustrations.
I read WordPress support topics where WooCommerce sync breaks for weeks with no fix.
I watched YouTube videos where affiliate reviewers hide the real problems.
I studied G2 reviews where users report accounts suspended without warning.
I read employee reviews on AmbitionBox where workers describe low appraisals and forced office attendance.
I analysed competitor reviews from Moosend, Omnisend and Sender – each confirming the same weaknesses.
I scanned the whole web.
I examined Brevo from every angle.
Solopreneurs, marketing teams, eCommerce stores, developers, nonprofits, freelancers – and the employees who build the product.
What follows is not a quick summary. It is the most comprehensive, brutally honest and unbiased review of Brevo you will find anywhere.
The full story might surprise you.

The Promise (Overview)
Brevo positions itself as an all-in-one AI-powered customer engagement platform focused on email marketing, SMS, WhatsApp, transactional messaging, CRM, live chat, automation and loyalty tools.
It emphasises ease of use with drag-and-drop editors, ready-made templates, no-code automation and advanced AI features (Aura agents) for marketing, sales, data analysis and customer support.
The site highlights scalability from small businesses to enterprises, multichannel campaigns, strong integrations (150+ tools) and success stories claiming significant revenue growth and customer retention.
It promotes a free plan and stresses simplicity combined with powerful scaling capabilities.
Platform: Campaigns & Automation
Email & multichannel marketing software.
It’s Brevo’s main marketing toolkit. It lets you create and send campaigns through email, SMS and WhatsApp all in one place.
They highlight easy drag-and-drop tools, automation workflows, customer data platform (CDP) and CRM features to help businesses understand their customers better and build stronger relationships.
Key highlights:
- Free plan with up to 300 emails/day
- Paid plans starting around $9–$18/month
- Focus on multichannel marketing and automation
- Claims to be simple yet powerful for growing businesses
Platform: Transactional Email Service
This service is built for sending automated, one-to-one emails like order confirmations, password resets, welcome emails, invoices and shipping updates.
Main points:
- Very high deliverability rates
- Fast sending speed (up to millions per hour)
- Easy templates + API integration
- Strong analytics and tracking
- Starts free with 300 emails/day, then paid plans based on volume
If you run an online store or app and need important emails to actually reach your customers’ inboxes reliably, this is Brevo’s strong area. It’s developer-friendly but also simple enough for non-tech people.
Platform: Sales Management
It’s Brevo’s Sales Platform (their CRM and sales tools). It helps businesses manage deals, track sales pipelines, book meetings and keep all customer info in one place.
Main highlights:
- Built-in CRM with deal tracking and pipeline management
- Meeting scheduler and email sequences for sales
- Unified view of customer journey (connects nicely with marketing tools)
- Aimed at small to medium businesses that want simple sales software
It’s Brevo’s way of saying “We’re not just for emails anymore — we can help you close more sales too.” Everything stays inside the same platform, so marketing and sales teams can work together easily.
Platform: Data
It’s designed to bring all your customer information together in one place — from emails, website behaviour, purchases and more.
Main highlights:
- Centralise and clean customer data
- Sync info across different tools
- Get useful insights to understand your customers better
- Create smarter, more personalised marketing and sales actions
Instead of having customer data scattered everywhere, Brevo lets you keep it organised in one spot. This helps you send better messages and build stronger relationships. It works nicely with Brevo’s other tools, like email and CRM.
Platform: Loyalty Program Software
It lets businesses create their own personalised loyalty programs to keep customers coming back and increase their lifetime value.
Main highlights:
- Build custom loyalty/rewards programs
- Use points, VIP tiers and special offers
- Connect directly with Brevo’s email, SMS and CRM tools
- Helps boost customer retention and repeat purchases
Think of it as your built-in “customer loyalty club” maker. Instead of using a separate app, you can set up rewards inside Brevo, so your marketing and loyalty efforts work together smoothly.
Platform: Integrations
It’s Brevo’s App Marketplace — it shows all the tools you can connect with Brevo. They claim to have integrations with 150+ popular apps.
Main highlights:
- Strong focus on eCommerce (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, PrestaShop)
- Popular no-code tools like Zapier and Make
- CRM & Sales (Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot)
- Payments (Stripe, PayPal), forms, analytics and more
- Easy to sync customer data, automate workflows and connect everything together
If you already use other business tools, Brevo makes it pretty simple to plug them in so everything works as one smooth system instead of jumping between different apps.

Solutions
The solutions hub shows how businesses can use the platform in different ways — whether for marketing campaigns, transactional messages, sales, customer data or loyalty programs.
Small businesses, enterprises, retail and eCommerce stores, smart automations and developers.
Pricing
Brevo’s pricing page is straightforward but has a few gotchas.
The Free plan is generous—great for testing—but daily limits apply, not monthly.
Starter removes the Brevo logo only if you pay extra, which feels sneaky.
Standard is where small businesses get real value: automation, A/B testing and heatmaps.
Professional adds WhatsApp and AI but the per‑user fee can add up.
Enterprise is a custom quote.
Overall, good for scaling but watch for add‑on costs like SMS credits.
Plans.

Blog
The blog is what you’d expect from a marketing platform.
Articles comparing themselves to competitors, tips on email design, automation workflows and industry trends.
It’s clearly written to convince you to use Brevo, not to be an independent source. That’s fine – just know you’re getting their point of view. Helpful for learning their features, but less useful for unbiased pros/cons.
If you’re researching whether to buy Brevo, treat blog posts like extended ads. Still, some practical tutorials are genuinely useful for beginners.
eBooks
The eBook library looks professional – think “Marketing Orchestration Benchmark” and industry‑specific guides.
But like their blog, there are lead magnets, not just neutral resources. The content is polished and useful for learning omnichannel marketing, automation and deliverability.
Many eBooks offer decent strategy tips – especially the 2026 benchmark report.
Email Templates
The email template library is one of their genuinely useful free features. Over 40 templates, fully responsive (look good on phones) and you can use them with the drag‑and‑drop editor – no coding needed.
That’s solid, especially for beginners or small businesses on the free plan.
Templates are categorised by industry, so finding a starting point is easy.
Downside?
The “free” access requires a Brevo account and some nicer designs may be locked to higher plans. Still, better than many competitors’ free template offerings.
Free Marketing Tools
The “free tools” page is a nice bonus – not something you’d expect from an email marketing platform.
You get AI‑powered calculators for ROI, loyalty programs and even a “Marketing Automation Comparison” tool.
No account needed to play with them, which feels genuinely helpful, not salesy.
That said, these are basic simulators, not deep analytics. Good for quick estimates or convincing your boss that email marketing makes money. But don’t expect enterprise‑grade benchmarks.
Still, for a free resource, it’s a thoughtful add‑on – better than most competitors offer.
Success Stories
These are classic marketing case studies – happy customers explaining how Brevo saved them time, boosted engagement or increased sales.
You won’t find failures or honest struggles here.
That’s fine if you want inspiration or proof that Brevo works for similar businesses.
But treat them like testimonials, not independent reviews. Helpful for seeing what’s possible with the platform but not useful for finding real‑world downsides or issues.
Community
Brevo’s own community forum is where the real truth lives.
Users aren’t shy about problems. Editor glitches (pasting breaks layouts), deliverability drops from low IP reputation, free accounts losing folders, even accounts getting disabled over mismatched email content. API users struggle with filters and HTML returns.
On the plus side, Brevo employees do reply and feature requests get discussed. This forum is more honest than any success story.
If you’re considering Brevo, spend an hour here. You’ll see exactly what annoys paying customers – and whether those issues would affect you.
Events
This page lists webinars, workshops and trade shows – mostly marketing‑focused, not product demos.
If you like learning from a brand directly, these could be useful. Free webinars often include tips on email deliverability, automation or industry trends.
Downside?
Like their blog and eBooks, events are promotional – you’ll hear Brevo’s perspective, not neutral advice. Still, for beginners wanting hands‑on walkthroughs or networking, it’s a nice extra.
Partner Programs
The partner page is for agencies, not regular users.
If you’re a freelancer or marketing agency, you can join their program to resell Brevo or manage client accounts – likely getting commissions or discounts.
For normal customers, the “Find a Partner Agency” section helps you hire an expert if Brevo feels too complex.
That’s fair – many email platforms do this. Just know that partner agencies may push Brevo even when another tool fits better.
Good for enterprise, overkill for solopreneurs.
Expert Directory
The expert directory is just a list of approved agencies you can pay to help with your account.
Useful if you’re overwhelmed by setup, automation or deliverability issues – but remember, these are Brevo partners, not neutral consultants.
They likely earn commissions or perks from Brevo, so they’ll rarely recommend switching to another platform.
Good for enterprise teams with a budget. For most small businesses, Brevo’s own support and community forum should be enough.
Hep Center
The help center is your first stop for real answers – not marketing fluff. It’s packed with step-by-step guides on deliverability, automation, integrations (Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce) and even TikTok ads.
The “new articles” section shows they update it often. You’ll find honest details about plan limits (like conversions only on Starter and above) and setup instructions.
No bias here – it’s straight documentation. If you’re troubleshooting editor glitches or deliverability drops (from the community forum), search here first. Much more useful than blogs or eBooks for solving actual problems.
API Docs
The API docs are for developers – clean, organised and honest. Code examples (Node.js, Python, PHP, cURL) and real technical details.
You’ll see exactly what’s possible. Email, SMS, WhatsApp, custom objects, eCommerce sync.
The “getting started” guide is straightforward – install an SDK, run a few commands.
Compared to competitors, this is above average. If you’re a developer evaluating Brevo, read this before pricing. It reveals the complexity that the marketing pages hide (like custom objects setup).
Solid documentation.
Company Overview & Key Statistics
Brevo was founded in 2012 and is B Corp certified (a prestigious, corporate designation awarded to for-profit companies that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability).
They talk up sustainability, diversity, free training for small biz and NGO discounts.
They’re a legit, growing company with a social conscience. They seem to treat employees and the planet decently.
The contact page includes these options: contact sales, get support, become a partner and press inquiries. There are links to the help center, the community, you can report abuse, join their team and discover the offices in various locations, France, Germany, India, USA, Austria and Bulgaria.
The leader. Armand Thiberge, founder and CEO.
The careers page is for people looking for a job. They have 1,000+ employees from 72 countries, offices globally and a learning culture.
The press page is all good news – unicorn status, $583M raised, big brands like Ebay and H&M as customers.
The stats: 600K customers, 180+ countries served, 7 offices.
The NGO page offers non-profits a 20% discount on paid plans – that’s genuinely helpful if you’re running donation campaigns. Features like automated thank-you workflows and multi-channel messaging fit non-profit needs.
The Reality (Deep Research)
What users report across 40,000+ reviews.
In this section, I summarise findings from Trustpilot (3.1 stars, 3,353 reviews), Reddit discussions, Quora independent users, the tl;dv competitor analysis and other sources. Where G2 (4.7 stars, 17,891 reviews) is mentioned separately, its incentivised nature is noted.
TrustPilot
Trustpilot score is 4.1 from 7,103 reviews – mostly positive.
77% give 5 stars, praising the free plan, ease of use and reliable features for small businesses. But 13% give 1 star – and their complaints include accounts suspended without clear explanation, deliverability problems (emails go to spam), slow or unhelpful support and even being charged after suspension.
The AI summary confirms ambiguous experiences with support and account bans.
Brevo replies to almost every negative review, often blaming the customer’s list quality or automated security filters. They also invite customers to email them for further help.
In many cases, they explain that suspensions happen to protect shared IP reputation.
That’s a common issue for the majority of email marketing providers.
Shared IP suspensions are a necessary safeguard. When one user’s poor engagement metrics (high bounces, spam complaints) threaten the collective trust score of a shared pool, Email Service Providers (ESPs) automatically pause sending to protect the reputation of all other businesses sharing that IP.
Bottom line.
It is a budget-friendly, feature-rich email platform that most Trustpilot reviewers love – but the minority who get their accounts suspended often never get a clear explanation or timely help, so test carefully before committing.
Venture Harbour
This is an in-depth independent review from a blogger who actually used Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) for over a decade, sending 640,000+ emails.
He gives it 4.1/5 stars – praising the email-volume pricing (unlimited contacts, pay per send), transactional email (best-in-class) and generous free plan.
But he notes the automation ceiling (no split-testing of paths, less deep than another platform and the October 2025 plan restructure that moved WhatsApp to expensive Professional plans ($499+/mo).
He personally uses other service for complex automation and Brevo for transactional email – a telling combo.
All in all, great value for most but automation power-users should look elsewhere.
StartupWise – YouTube Review
This is more like an affiliate pitch – not an honest review. The creator pushes a 50% discount code (which commenters say doesn’t work).
The video itself praises Brevo’s unlimited contacts and affordable pricing but briefly mentions that advanced features need paid plans.
The real info is in the comments.
Users report broken discount codes, call Brevo a scam (though without details) and one notes that the video is misleading about pricing.
Another comment warns of no phone support, no live chat, just AI email loops.
Reddit – Personal Experience Using Brevo
A business owner on Reddit tested Brevo for 10 days and posted a detailed, critical review.
Positives: good free tier (300/day), good deliverability (emails hit inbox). Negatives: buggy drag-and-drop editor (text disappears, old versions replace new ones), very few components (had to use raw HTML), outdated documentation with broken links and circular references, frustrating API that relies on deprecated packages.
Transactional email configuration felt hacked together.
Their conclusion: “I can’t recommend Brevo” – they lost confidence in the service being maintained properly or built to last.
Reddit – Best email marketing? Or any experience with Brevo
This is a Reddit post asking for email marketing recommendations – not a review of Brevo.
It reveals overwhelmingly negative feedback from real users.
Multiple commenters report accounts suspended after paying – for low engagement (28% open rate, 0 complaints), for asking about spam issues or for no reason at all.
One user lost a Black Friday campaign – platform crashed for 48 hours, costing tens of thousands.
Another paid $160, was suspended 40 minutes later, got 3 clicks total and Brevo removed his Trustpilot review.
Customer support is described as non-existent, evasive or hiding behind internal policies. Refunds are impossible.
A few positive comments exist but the thread is full of messages mentioning suspended accounts and lost money.
Website Planet
Website Planet gives Brevo a decent but not glowing review.
The reviewer actually had trouble getting verified – Brevo’s strict anti-spam verification delayed testing, which matches suspension complaints elsewhere.
Pros: generous free plan (300/day, unlimited contacts), good automation tools, custom HTML templates, decent support (responses within 5 hours on free plan).
Cons: landing pages locked to Premium plan, A/B testing requires upgrade, no stock photo library, extra steps to share campaigns via social media.
Bottom line: “It will do a good job… but other platforms offer better value.” Note: Review uses old pricing.
Software Reviews
SoftwareReviews is a sister site of SelectHub – an aggregated review platform with verified user reviews.
It gives Brevo a 95% positive rating (only 2% negative).
Users love the all-in-one platform (email, SMS, chat, CRM), drag-and-drop editor and transparency (seeing who reads what).
Criticisms mention that the template library gets cluttered (needs better folders), advanced features require higher tiers, support response times vary and learning curve for some features.
Three detailed reviews (from IT, Finance, HR roles) all recommend Brevo but note limitations. This is more positive than Trustpilot (where 13% are 1-star) – likely because SoftwareReviews verifies users and may attract a different, perhaps less technical, audience.
Capterra
Capterra shows 4.6/5 from 3,450 reviews – more positive than Trustpilot.
Users love the beginner-friendly CRM (94% positive), intuitive interface (93%) and comprehensive email toolkit (94%).
But significant minorities report technical glitches and delays (56% negative) and strict account controls with unclear policies (59% negative) – matching Trustpilot’s suspension complaints.
One 1-star reviewer couldn’t reach support by phone and got only automated email replies.
It’s great for non-technical users; risky for those who trigger compliance filters or need reliable support.
WP Mail SMTP
This review from WP Mail SMTP (a plugin company that offers Brevo setup services) is positive but affiliated.
They praise Brevo’s beginner-friendly interface, free tier (300/day), SMTP reliability and multi-channel features.
They note cons: limited features on lower plans, pricing can be high for small businesses, only 67 integrations (fewer than competitors) and support response times vary.
The reviewer also admits that the automation builder wouldn’t load during testing – a bug that matches Reddit’s complaints.
EmailToolTester
This is an in-depth independent review from EmailTooltester – a site that does real-world testing over long periods.
It gives Brevo a 4.7/5 and their “Best Email Marketing Tool for 2026” badge.
They love the low-cost plans (pay per email, not per contact), solid automation, transactional email, SMS, WhatsApp, AI assistant, free CRM and WordPress plugin.
But they note cons: free plan’s 300/day limit, no in-house migration (must hire paid partners), expensive multi-user access ($12/month per user) and live chat has been replaced by an AI agent (no human live chat).
The reviewer also shares a personal negative experience. Brevo blocked a batch of new recipients after a campaign performed poorly – mirroring suspension complaints elsewhere.
Their conclusion.
Excellent value for money but be aware of the strict compliance filters and limited human support.
EmailVendorSelection
This is a review from Email Vendor Selection – a site that does structured, methodology-driven reviews.
It gives Brevo a strong review, highlighting its generous free plan (300/day, up to 100K contacts), easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor, powerful automation builder (even on free plan), multi-channel features (email, SMS, WhatsApp, CRM) and free sales CRM.
Cons: multi-user access requires business plan ($18+/mo) and costs per user; A/B testing and landing pages also locked to business plan; only 48 templates (fewer than competitors); live chat and phone support only on business plans.
They conclude.
Excellent for solopreneurs and small teams, less cost-effective for larger teams needing multiple users or advanced features.
WordPress.org
This is a short, positive user review on the WordPress.org support forum – not a professional review.
A small business owner has used Brevo since 2022.
They find it reliable, easy to use for newsletters and WooCommerce order confirmations. It solved their previous email delivery problems.
They like that you can downgrade from paid back to free.
Only issue is that plugin updates occasionally broke sending until they re-checked a box – an easy fix.
This matches the “works great for simple, non-technical use cases” pattern we’ve seen in positive reviews.
WordPress.org #2
Someone uses Brevo with WP Mail SMTP for transactional emails. They confirm that under 300 emails per day, Brevo is free and quick to set up (once you know what you’re doing – need domain records and 2FA).
Their only frustration: no manager option under one login, so they create a separate Brevo account for each client.
This reinforces the positive pattern for simple, low-volume transactional email use, while hinting at the multi-user limitation we’ve seen elsewhere.
I’ve used Brevo in combination with WP Mail SMTP as well. More in my personal experience below.
WordPress.org #3
A WordPress support thread reveals a specific technical failure in Brevo’s WooCommerce plugin.
Order data (purchase history, attributes) won’t sync – only basic contact info.
One user has been waiting over two weeks for Brevo support to resolve it, with no solution. Another user details extensive troubleshooting (IP whitelisting, reinstalls, cache clearing, disabling JetPack) – still broken.
Brevo’s plugin support simply says “raise a ticket with Brevo support.” This matches our pattern of support response times (Capterra’s 56% negative for glitches). For eCommerce stores relying on WooCommerce sync, this is a serious issue.
WordPress.org #4
Another support thread.
A ser couldn’t receive test emails via Brevo. The solution? Manually whitelist your server’s IP address in Brevo’s security settings – not documented upfront. After that, emails sent but landed in spam for 3 of 4 mailboxes (only Gmail worked).
This matches deliverability concerns we’ve seen elsewhere. Another user found that changing the “From Email” from a personal address to wordpress@domain.com helped.
Bubble.io Forum Discussion
This is a short forum discussion on Bubble.io (a no-code platform).
A user asks about switching from Postmark to Brevo for transactional emails, noting Brevo’s cheaper pricing and drag-and-drop editor. One reply confirms it works well via API connector and the docs have everything needed.
That’s it – no depth, no criticism. This adds little to our analysis but is consistent with positive experiences from non-technical users who don’t hit Brevo’s limits.
G2
G2 gives Brevo 4.5/5 from 2,569 reviews – 2,025 five-star, 66 one-star.
Positive reviews praise ease of use, affordability, all-in-one platform (email, SMS, WhatsApp, CRM) and good support.
Negative reviews (3.5/5 and below) warn for editor lag/clunkiness, missing advanced automation features, limited customisation, strict account suspensions, slow support unless on premium plans and unreliable click tracking.
One reviewer noted emails go to spam without a dedicated IP. This perfectly matches our pattern – great for simple users, risky for those who trigger filters or need advanced features.
MooSend (Competitor)
This is a review from Moosend – which is a direct competitor to Brevo. This review is not independent. They have a clear incentive to highlight Brevo’s weaknesses.
They give a balanced but critical assessment. Pros include ease of use, good email editor, nice templates, solid automations, SMS marketing.
The cons. Landing pages locked to Business plan ($18+/mo); basic reporting on lower plans; deliverability fluctuates; only 67 integrations; no live chat support (phone only on Business); pricing add-ons add up (logo removal $12/mo, extra landing pages $24/mo). They also note getting an error when testing automations.
Gartner
Gartner gives Brevo 4.5/5 from 175 ratings – notably no 1-star reviews (54% 5-star, 39% 4-star).
Written reviews praise ease of use, all-in-one platform (email, SMS, WhatsApp, CRM), HubSpot integration and affordable pricing.
Criticisms. Advanced analytics and reporting lack depth, automation feels limited vs enterprise tools, template customisation could be broader, some clunkiness and issue resolution can take longer than expected.
This matches our pattern – great for SMBs, less suitable for enterprise needs.
Sender (Competitor)
It’s another direct competitor to Brevo (similar to Moosend earlier). Sender is upfront about this in their disclosure.
The review is balanced and detailed. They praise Brevo’s affordable pricing, built-in CRM, multi-channel support (email, SMS, WhatsApp, push), user-friendly interface, generous free plan and solid automation.
But they list significant cons. Limited template variety, occasional deliverability issues with shared IP pools, basic reporting that lacks depth, limited automation branching logic, fewer integrations than competitors and advanced features locked to higher plans.
They also note the recent pricing restructuring (October 2025) moved landing pages and popups to higher tiers and the Professional plan now starts at $449/month – a significant jump.
This review is more negative than most – possibly due to competitor bias but the specific criticisms (deliverability issues, basic reporting, limited automation, pricing changes) match what we’ve seen elsewhere.
PCMag
PCMag, a reputable independent tech publication, gives Brevo 4.0/5 (Excellent) and an Editors’ Choice award.
They praise its ease of use, great email builder, SMS/WhatsApp support, good automation and free tier.
Cons. Limited landing pages (only one on Business plan; extra cost for more), some features cost extra (SMS credits, logo removal $12/month), occasionally lethargic loading and finicky data importing.
Bottom line. A robust, affordable email marketing solution for SMBs – worthy of its Editors’ Choice award.
EmailDeliverabilityReport
EmailDeliverabilityReport, a technical testing site, gives Brevo a 92/100 score (excellent) based on real deliverability tests.
Their May 2026 data: 79.46% inbox placement, 19.15% spam rate – middle of the pack among providers.
Better than Mailchimp, MailerLite, and ActiveCampaign; worse than Rapidmail and CampaignMonitor.
Gmail delivered 76.81% to inbox (21.93% spam); Outlook 77.00%; Yahoo 78.73%. Health industry emails performed best (82.44% inbox); Dating worst (75.18%).
All in all. Deliverability is solid but not best-in-class – expect 1 in 5 emails to land in spam, especially for lower-engagement industries.
TrustRadius
TrustRadius gives Brevo 8.5/10 from 346 reviews.
Top performing features: Link Tracking (8.9), Email Deliverability Reporting (8.7), Standard Reports (8.7).
Areas for improvement: Custom Reports (6.8 – below 7.3 avg), A/B Testing (6.5 – below 8.1 avg), Landing Pages (6.0 – below 8.0 avg).
User reviews confirm the pattern.
Praise for ease of use, free plan, deliverability; complaints about spam folder issues, weak AI, complicated WhatsApp automation, high pricing for higher volumes and missing advanced features.
Conclusion.
Great for basics, weak on advanced features – consistent with our pattern.
Hack’celeration
Hack’celeration, an independent agency, tested Brevo across multiple client projects.
Scores: Ease of Use 4.5/5 (intuitive), Value 4.5/5 (killer advantage – pay per email), Features 4.0/5 (comprehensive for SMBs, missing advanced CRM/analytics), Support 4.0/5 (solid but email-only on lower tiers), Integrations 4.0/5 (150+ native, strong e-commerce).
They achieved 12% cart abandonment recovery. AI content generator saves 30-40% writing time but is hit-or-miss.
All in all.
Excellent for SMBs and startups; enterprise teams need more specialised tools.
Icegram Express (Competitor)
This review is from Icegram Express, a direct Brevo competitor (WordPress email plugin).
They give a balanced analysis but clearly position themselves as the better alternative.
Positive points: simple setup, clean dashboard, visual automation builder, good mobile responsiveness, free CRM included.
Criticisms: templates are basic, A/B testing lacks depth, reporting is on the lighter side (advanced features locked to Business plan), platform can be slow loading, deliverability fluctuates and Business plan may be expensive for small businesses.
TechRadar
TechRadar, a reputable independent tech publication, gives Brevo a positive verdict – compelling pick for SMBs.
Pros: generous free plan (300/day), built-in CRM, automation, AI tools across most tiers (Aura available on free plan).
Cons: basic landing page features, steep jump to Professional plan ($449/month), AI segmentation is Enterprise-only.
They note occasional lags and tricky data imports.
Bottom line.
Great for SMBs prioritising email marketing; not for businesses needing advanced landing pages or enterprise AI features.
AmbitionBox
These are employee reviews (not customer reviews). Brevo scores 3.3/5 from 73 employees – well below customer ratings (4.1-4.6/5).
Employee complaints: low appraisals (2-3% hikes), forced office attendance (3 days/week), mass layoffs (AI will do complete work), office politics, partiality and poor managerial support.
Conclusion.
Brevo employees are unhappy – which may explain the poor customer support reported elsewhere (slow responses, AI loops, no live chat).
SoftwareAdvice
Software Advice (sister site of Capterra) shows 4.6/5 from 3,450 reviews.
Positive reviews praise ease of use, customer support, value for money, free plan and transactional emails.
Critical reviews confirm the pattern: account suspensions without warning (even with 25-41% open rates), overly aggressive spam filtering, slow support at times, limited design flexibility and expensive Professional plan.
Bottom line.
Matches our pattern – great for basic use, risky for suspensions and advanced features.
EmailWarmUp
This is a review from EmailWarmup – a site focused on email deliverability (they sell email warmup services).
Run by a deliverability expert (12+ years experience), it gives Brevo 3.5/5 – notably lower than consumer reviews.
They report ~88.3% deliverability (EmailTooltester data) and warn that shared IP pools mean your reputation depends on other senders.
Strict list quality monitoring can trigger account reviews – consistent with suspension complaints. Not suitable for cold email – only opted-in marketing.
Hidden costs include branding removal ($), extra seats ($12/user), and SMS/WhatsApp credits.
All in all.
Good for opted-in marketing with clean lists; not for deliverability-critical operations or shared IP risks.
BasicThinking
This is a review from Basic Thinking – a German tech/media publication. They claim to have sent over 4 million emails through Brevo and tested it for nearly 10 years (since before the Newsletter2Go merger).
They give a very positive review: 99% deliverability (far higher than other tests), flexible pricing, GDPR compliance, ISO 27001 certified and all-in-one features.
It’s a review from an affiliated partner.
OmniSend (Competitor)
This review is from Omnisend, a direct Brevo competitor (eCommerce email platform).
They give a balanced but competitor-biased analysis.
Strengths: pay-per-email pricing, generous contact storage, free CRM, powerful automation, multi-channel.
Weaknesses: 300/day free limit, basic analytics on lower tiers, slow support (4-5 days for email, no live chat, phone only on highest plan), strict account policies leading to suspensions, additional costs for team members.
StartupBlooms
This is a review from StartupBlooms – a blog focused on startup tools and guides.
It’s a Brevo affiliate partner. It gives Brevo a positive beginner’s review.
Strengths: free plan (300/day), all-in-one platform (email, SMS, CRM), intuitive editor, robust automation, good analytics, GDPR compliance, scalable pricing.
Cons: limited advanced features on lower tiers, learning curve, SMS costs add up, limited templates, slow customer support (especially for free users), integration limitations, weak mobile app.
Filip Konecny
Filip Konecny, an independent blogger, gives a balanced Brevo review.
Free plan (300/day) is good for testing, not for staying. Starter ($9) removes daily cap. Standard ($18) adds automation, A/B testing, advanced reporting – where the platform starts earning its price. Professional ($499) is where the tone changes – for bigger teams, not beginners.
They note features that make Brevo feel complete sit above free tier.
Bottom line.
Smart buy for small businesses, creators with traction, eCommerce brands – not for bare-bones newsletter senders or agencies needing multi-account management.
GetApp
GetApp (sister site of Capterra) shows 4.6/5 from 3,450 reviews – 2,475 five-star.
Key feature ratings: Email Marketing 4.6, Campaign Management 4.5, Contact Database 3.9, Mobile Optimisation 3.8, Campaign Analytics 3.7. Deliverability: 75% positive – but some mention spam filtering issues.
Support: mixed – minority report slow response times, delays ranging from hours to days.
One reviewer noted 4 back-and-forth emails over 3 days to solve a problem.
Matches our pattern – great for basics, inconsistent support.
ThemeIsle
ThemeIsle, a WordPress-focused publication with 8 years of Brevo usage, gives a very positive review.
They praise the pricing model (pay per email, not contacts) – “Brevo is generally cheaper, especially past 5,000 contacts.”
Highlights: automation, drag-and-drop editor, template library, Facebook ads, ease of use.
They note free plan (300/day) is sufficient for smaller lists. The review is from 2019 (updated 2023), so it misses recent features (WhatsApp, Aura AI, October 2025 restructure).
Take as credible for long-term experience, but dated.
BloggingWizard
This is a review from Blogging Wizard – a blog focused on digital marketing and software reviews. It’s an affiliate partner of Brevo.
Pros: easy to use, powerful automations, good editor, affordable.
Cons: reports lacking (advanced stats on higher plans), customer support slow and hard to reach (responses slow, no live chat, page-loading errors in ticketing system), deliverability varies, advanced features costly. Free plan (300/day) ok for casual users. Dated (2023) – misses recent features.
Matches our pattern – good product, weak support.
BlogVault
BlogVault (WordPress backup company) gives a balanced 2026 Brevo review.
Pros: unlimited contacts, external dashboard (keeps WordPress fast), SMTP deliverability, Aura AI, easy imports/exports. Pricing based on send volume – major advantage for large but infrequent audiences.
Cons: free plan 300/day cap, advanced design lacking, phone support only on higher plans.
Who should avoid: those needing custom CSS design, instant phone support on lower plans, or sending >300 free daily.
Matches our pattern – great value, support limitations.
BabarMarketing
This is a review from Babar Marketing – a growth strategist and automation expert’s personal blog. A very positive Brevo review.
Pros: pay-per-email pricing (nothing beats Brevo in this category), unlimited contacts, strong deliverability, automation comparable to ActiveCampaign, built-in CRM, multi-channel (email, SMS, WhatsApp), transactional email included.
Cons: landing page builder not premium-level, reporting could be more detailed, free plan 300/day limit.
Conclusion.
Best balance of affordability, power, and ease of use – eliminates need for separate email, CRM, SMS, transactional tools.
Upskillist
Upskillist (online learning blog) gives a short, positive Brevo review – it’s affiliate content.
Highlights: multi-channel campaigns, automation, CRM, free plan, strong value, ease of use.
Cons: advanced features need paid tiers, learning curve, overkill for basic sending.
Not a credible independent source – lacks depth and omits known issues (suspensions, support, deliverability).
EmailWiz (Competitor)
This is a review from EmailWiz – a direct competitor to Brevo (an AI email marketing platform).
Their analysis of Brevo reviews across Trustpilot, G2, Capterra and Reddit confirms our pattern: users describe Brevo as functional and affordable but note operational friction.
They cite suspension complaints (account handling frustrations), slow support without premium plans, strict account validation and weaker advanced automation vs specialised tools.
Their conclusion.
Brevo delivers value for startups but scaling brands may outgrow it.
WPBegginer
WPBeginner (respected WordPress resource) gives a balanced, detailed Brevo review. However, it’s an affiliated review.
Pros: easy to use, drag-and-drop builder, 40+ templates, SMS/WhatsApp/live chat/phone, automation, segmentation, free plan (300/day), WordPress/WooCommerce integrations.
Key cautions: account verification delays (1-3 days), phone support only on Professional ($449/mo), lacks built-in list hygiene tools, advanced reporting only on Standard+, landing pages cost extra.
Final verdict.
Beginner-friendly… Professional plan needed for phone support – invaluable for deliverability issues.
Research
This is a review from Research – a site that publishes software reviews and comparisons.
It gives Brevo 4.7/5 – higher than most.
Pros: drag-and-drop editor, automation workflows, contact management, real-time analytics, SMS marketing.
Cons: steep learning curve, limited email template customisation, automation lacks advanced triggers and conditional logic, insufficient granularity in reporting, mobile app missing key functionalities.
EmailSoftwareReview
This is a review from a site focused on email marketing software reviews.
It gives Brevo 8.8/10 – positive but balanced.
Pros: pay-per-email pricing (72% cheaper than Mailchimp for large lists), unlimited contacts, SMS/WhatsApp/email, free plan (300/day), Aura AI.
Cons: Brevo logo on free/Starter, advanced automation only on Standard+, landing page builder less polished, CRM less mature, free plan daily limit.
Affiliate content – but cons match our pattern (landing pages weak, automation requires upgrade).
TheRetailExec
This is a review from The Retail Exec – a site focused on retail and eCommerce software reviews.
It gives Brevo 4.6/5 for pricing, positioning it for eCommerce (Shopify/WooCommerce).
Pros: user-friendly, email automation, personalisation.
Cons: advanced features limited compared to premium competitors, reporting tools a bit basic, template customisation might not meet all design needs.
Key quote: “For teams prioritising ease of use and affordability, it’s a solid choice.”
Matches our pattern – basic reporting, limited advanced features, template constraints.
EmailToolsGuide
This is a review from EmailToolsGuide – a blog focused on email marketing software reviews.
It gives a balanced, detailed Brevo review (April 2024 – dated).
Best for: bloggers, eCommerce beginners, non-profits.
Not for: established/growing eCommerce, those needing advanced segmentation/automation.
Cons: outdated templates, non-intuitive editor, weak automation (cart abandonment not ready-to-use), cannot segment by eCommerce events (browsing/shopping behaviour – serious limitation), no tags (uses scoring), no popup functionality, no 24/7 support, automation capped at 2,000 contacts on Free/Starter.
Confirms our pattern – especially for eCommerce limitations.
LitBlogging
This is a review from LitBlogging – a blog focused on blogging and marketing tools.
It gives a positive, promotional Brevo review – affiliate content (old pricing, only one minor con).
Pros: unlimited contacts on free plan, low price, transactional email/SMS, CRM, automation.
Cons: 300/day limit on free plan.
RevenueWireHQ
It’s a site focused on tools and reviews. The review is positive and promotional (dated April 2026, but uses old pricing).
Claims industry-leading deliverability (unsubstantiated), uses outdated pricing ($25/month for 20k emails – current is $9 for 5k), and omits critical issues.
TheCMO
This is a review from a marketing-focused publication.
It gives Brevo 4.6/5 (Crozscore) – balanced review.
Pros: visual automation builder, pay-as-you-go pricing, transactional email/SMS included.
Cons: limited segmentation options, template library smaller than competitors, reporting lacks advanced attribution.
Key quote: “Power users may want deeper analytics.”
EmailPlatformReview
This is a detailed, critical review from a site that specialises in email platform analysis.
It gives Brevo 4/10 – the most critical review we’ve seen.
They argue Brevo uses impressive volume numbers (1M emails at $18) to distract from missing deliverability focus and support gaps.
Key cons: no contact tags (campaigns only), multi-channel distraction before email mastery, enterprise support hidden behind custom pricing, no deliverability features, webhooks restricted, loading screens, generic support until Enterprise.
Pros: automation across tiers, advanced segmentation, no contact limits.
Highly credible specialised review – confirms our pattern and adds critical strategic analysis.
AniltX
This is a review from AniltX – a site promoting their own B2B lead generation product (which integrates with Brevo). The review is brief, positive and promotional.
It gives Brevo 4.0/5.
Pros: volume pricing, multi-channel, automation, CRM, transactional API.
Cons: less polished templates, weaker segmentation, basic reporting.
TheSoftReview
This is a review from a software review blog. The review is positive and promotional.
Pros: all-in-one, free CRM, user-friendly.
Cons: starter plan lacks landing pages, automation limited.
Cites 80.63% deliverability.
MarketingAutomationInsider
Marketing Automation Insider (same author as Venture Harbour) gives Brevo 4.5/5 – brief summary.
Pros: volume pricing, built-in CRM, multichannel.
Cons: 300/day free limit, advanced analytics only on Professional, phone support requires Professional.
MyEmailMarket
My Email Market (10-year veteran blogger) gives a balanced Brevo review.
Pros: value for money, ease of use, all-in-one, generous free tier (300/day), automation, multi-channel, transactional email, lightweight CRM.
Cons: advanced eCommerce analytics lacking, deliverability nuances (dedicated IP on Enterprise), occasional UI lag.
Best for: small eCommerce, local businesses, agencies, creators.
Confirms our pattern.
GeekFlare
Geekflare (well-known software review site) gives Brevo a positive review and Geekflare Value Award.
It’s an affiliate partner.
Pros: easy-to-use, affordable, automation, multi-channel.
Cons: lacks social media automation, limited support for advanced API needs (Brevo’s API is basic, unsuitable for large enterprises) , free plan has branding.
Who shouldn’t use: businesses needing extensive API-driven solutions.
Confirms our pattern – good for SMBs, not for advanced API needs.
GESR-Reviews
A review site. It gives Brevo a brief, balanced review.
Pros: affordable, beginner-friendly, free plan.
Cons: limited automation, basic analytics, slow support on lower tiers.
Verdict: legit, not a scam.
An affiliated review.
Google AI Overview
Google AI Overview (aggregated summary) confirms Brevo’s pattern: 4.5/5 stars.
Strengths: volume pricing, strong deliverability, all-in-one, generous free plan.
Drawbacks: basic automation, buggy template editor, slow support wait times (especially lower tiers).
Ideal for: SMBs seeking budget-friendly solutions.

My Personal Experience
I started email marketing in early 2017 or so. It was the time when I invested in the Divi theme by ElegantThemes to give a more professional look to my online presence.
I started collecting email addresses using Bloom, an email opt-in plugin for WordPress sites.
Bloom directly integrates with many leading email service providers (ESPs).
In Bloom settings, you can select the desired ESP from a list. If your ESP is not listed there, you can use the “Custom HTML Form” option.
SendInBlue was enlisted there, the former name of Brevo.
Why am I saying all these?
Because ElegantThemes is a leading WordPress visual builder and website framework.
Their ESP list would include all the top brands, leaving less popular solutions out of it.
Indeed, after thorough research on the matter, I concluded that the Bloom list contained the most popular and respected brands in the email marketing space.
Due to the numerous ESP options in the market, it was a very tough decision to choose one of them.
I can’t remember which ESP I’ve used first but SendInBlue was one of them.
I was using various ESPs at the same time, trying to figure out which works best for my needs.
My experience with SendInBlue (Brevo) was great.
I can’t remember the deliverability ratios but I was satisfied.
I could even create basic automations, a major advantage for solo businesses.
As an email marketing beginner, Brevo covered my needs and never ran into any problems.
As time passed by and my email list grew, I’ve used more ESPs.
At some point, I stopped using SendInBlue; it was probably the time when they rebranded into Brevo.
Recently, when I migrated to a new hosting provider, I started using Brevo only for transactional emails with no problems.
All the notifications for eCommerce transactions (WooCommerce) were being delivered without issues in most cases.
All in all, my experience with Brevo is absolutely positive by all means but my needs are also limited as a solo entrepreneur.
My experience is not representative, that’s why I’ve analysed all these external sources to give you a holistic and realistic point of view.
Conclusion.
Brevo is more than enough for solo entrepreneurs and small businesses, with a very generous free plan to test things out.
The professional plan is expensive for most businesses.
For enterprises and heavy eCommerce stores, it may not be the optimal solution.
It’s a platform that works well for thousands of business owners.
Final Verdict & Recommendations
Brevo is one of the best-value email marketing platforms for solopreneurs with clean, engaged lists – but its strict compliance filters, slow support and missing features (contact tags, advanced API, deep analytics) make it a risky choice for WooCommerce stores, developers or anyone who cannot afford sudden account suspension.
| The Two Brevos | ||||
| User Profile | Verdict | Score | ||
| Solopreneur / small business (clean list, basic newsletters) | Great value – free plan is generous, easy to use | ⭐ 4.3 / 5 | ||
| Small team (2-5 users, clean list) | Good, but multi-user fees add up | ⭐ 3.8 / 5 | ||
| WooCommerce / Shopify store owner | High risk – sync breaks, no fix for weeks | ⭐ 2.8 / 5 | ||
| User with older / unengaged list | Very high suspension risk – avoid | ⭐ 2.5 / 5 | ||
| Developer / complex transactional email | API is basic, outdated docs – frustrating | ⭐ 3.0 / 5 | ||
| Enterprise / advanced automation | Not suitable – lacks depth | ⭐ 2.5 / 5 | ||
| Overall (all users weighted) | Great value but know the risks | ⭐ 3.8 / 5 | ||
| Recommendations by Audience | ||||
| RECOMMENDED (Test First) | NOT RECOMMENDED (High Risk) | |||
| Solopreneur with clean, engaged list: Free plan (300/day) is generous; pay-per-email pricing saves money; easy to use | eCommerce store owner: Order sync breaks for weeks with no fix; no ecommerce event segmentation; no contact tags | |||
| Non-technical small business owner: Intuitive interface, good templates, built-in CRM, multi-channel (SMS, WhatsApp) | User with older, unengaged, or purchased list: High risk of sudden suspension – even with 28% open rates | |||
| Freelancer sending basic newsletters: Affordable, scalable, no contact limits | Developer needing complex API: API is basic, documentation outdated, webhooks restricted to highest tiers | |||
| Non-profit organization: Discounts available, GDPR compliant, free CRM included | Team needing multiple users: Multi-user fees add up; no free manager role; separate accounts per client | |||
| Budget-conscious team: Unbeatable value for large lists with moderate sends | User sending to Outlook / Hotmail / Yahoo: Spam folder issues confirmed (77-78% inbox only) | |||
| Team needing advanced automation: No split-testing of paths; shallow vs ActiveCampaign | ||||
| Team needing landing pages on a budget: Locked to Business plan ($18+/mo) – only 1 included | ||||
| Team needing WhatsApp: Now requires Professional plan ($449+/mo) | ||||
| Enterprise / large business: API too basic, automation too shallow, support only at highest tier | ||||
| Anyone who cannot risk sudden account suspension: Trustpilot 13% 1-star rate is real – once suspended, refunds are nearly impossible | ||||
Final Advice.
Test the free plan with your actual list and use case.
If your list is clean and engaged and you’re a solo user – you’ll likely love Brevo.
If you run a WooCommerce store, have an older list, need advanced API, contact tags or reliable support – look at other ESPs instead.
Have a backup email provider ready. Read Trustpilot’s 1-star reviews before paying.
| Overall Score | ||||
| User Type | Score | |||
| Solopreneur (clean list) | ⭐ 4.3 / 5 | |||
| eCommerce / advanced needs | ⭐ 2.8 / 5 | |||
| All users weighted | ⭐ 3.8 / 5 | |||

Epilogue
Brevo is not a terrible company. It is also not a perfect one. It is a rapidly growing European CRM success story that has brought affordable, multi-channel marketing to over 500,000 businesses across 180 countries.
It has also disappointed paying customers with not-so-great support and may not have the best deliverability ratios or advanced features.
Both of these statements are true. Both exist side by side.
I do not write this review to tear Brevo down. I believe that honest feedback makes products better. Brevo has the potential to be genuinely great.
It already has a generous free plan, pay-per-email pricing that rewards list growth, a built-in CRM and multi-channel capabilities that competitors charge triple for. What it lacks is transparent compliance policies, functional customer support, contact tags for flexible segmentation and a reliable API for developers.
These are fixable problems. They are not existential flaws.
An invitation.
This review is not the final word. It is a starting point.
I invite you to join the discussion. Have you had a great experience with Brevo? Tell us about it. Have you been suspended, ignored or overcharged? Share your story.
Are you a developer with API frustrations? A WooCommerce owner whose sync broke? An employee who sees things differently?
Your voice matters.
The goal is to make Brevo better. And to make every email marketing platform better, for every business, in every industry.
Because at the end, we all just want to send emails that reach the inbox. Safely. Affordably. Reliably.
