Selling is a skill. Selling is the prerequisite to success. 

The first 4-letter word is obviously, SELL.

But there is another important word. CLOSE.

If you’re not able to convert a customer, if you don’t close the sale, you don’t make money. Period.

If you don’t sell, everything you do will be for nothing.

If you’re afraid of selling, it’s just because the word “Sales” got a bad reputation over the years.

But selling does not have to be a stressful experience.

If done right, selling is one of the most positive and enjoyable things any business person can do.

Selling is an eternal and universal skill that will never lose its value.

Episode 4 – The Hollywood Hoax

Following the marketing conventional wisdom won’t get you far in business today. 

Searching for the latest and greatest tool or tactic won’t help you make more sales.

The 1st Urban Myth to Selling – The Great Hollywood Hoax:

Movies like the “Wolf of Wall Street”, or “Glengarry GlenRoss”, or “Boiler Room”, they all present salespeople as the villains, the bad guys. Merciless, manipulative, pushy, that do anything to make a sale.

But here’s the truth: this kind of drama makes for great movies, but it’s nothing like that in the reality of selling.

Selling is something 100% different. As Zig Ziglar said, selling is a mindset, not a mindset to getting from your potential customers, but the mindset of giving to them.

Selling is about helping your customers discover and get what they want. It’s the same whether you sell 1-on-1 in person or communicating with the 1’000s via webinars or other digital forms.

To sell is to serve. It’s about convincing, it’s about understanding your customers’ needs and clearly explaining how your products will change their lives. It’s about building your customer up. Empowering them with your product or service.

Selling it’s not about controlling the situation, it’s about communicating with your prospect so that every sale is a win-win.

Episode 5 – The Curse of Perfection

This myth costs entrepreneurs time, energy, and money. A myth that creates more self-conflict, stress, and pressure than almost anything else in the business.  In the end, it can leave you with no product, no business, and no money.

Is this remind you something?

You were working on your product and it was ready to go. But you feel that you can’t sell your product as is. After a few more tweaks, a few more weeks, and some improvements you’ll get it exactly where you want it.

It will be p[erfect for what it is. A product so great no one would ever say no to it. But it just needs a few more tweaks before you release it. And no matter how much you dial it in, there’s always some room for improvement.

The curse of the perfect product. 

But what exactly is it?

Kevin says…” It’s a belief in the need to get your product just right – perfect even – before you can take it out to your market”.

Entrepreneurs that fall into this trap simply don’t understand the reality of selling.

But the quest for perfection is not exactly that, it’s a quest for approval. 

It’s the fear that the potential customer won’t buy. The fear of the customers saying “No”. 

On the other hand, successful entrepreneurs understand that “No” is part of the selling process. They know that every “No” is closer to “Yes”. 

A “No” means that you’re talking to the right person, the decision maker. A “No” means that they need more information. Or that the product doesn’t meet their needs as it is.

Entrepreneurs who are successful at selling don’t strive for perfection, strive for good enough.

No gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to reach back out and ask out why.

Listening to your future customers, and working to help them get what they need, is the key to selling. 

Remember the 1st iPhone? Well, it was far away from being a perfect product. It could not copy and paste, you could not even change the wallpaper on your phone. Did that stop Steve Jobs?

Is whatever you have is good enough…get out and sell it.

Episode 6 – The Phantom Visionary

It’s the belief that an individual with unstoppable drive, who by the virtue of the vision alone overcomes every obstacle that stands in their way. Every failure and setbacks are handled and they rise to massive success. 

But there’s a part in these stories that’s left out.

No ultra-successful entrepreneur can make it on their own.

They all have mentors.

All these business icons we look up to, all had to rely on support, guidance, and coaching from other people.

Finding true mentors can help you get your questions answered. You also get to learn from other people’s mistakes.

Mentors keep you focused when you need it most. They’ll hold you accountable, they’ll push you to actually take action when you need to. They’ll shortcut your path to success.

Episode 7 – From Entrepreneur to Advocate

Selling is the key to realizing your dreams. It’s about serving your prospects, about putting them first. 

More sales and more success only happen when you become your prospects greatest advocate.

To make it happen, you need 2 things.

#1 – Help your customers discover their needs. But you can’t just ask them because most prospects really don’t know what they need.

#2 – You need to understand the actual framework for making sales. Remember? Selling when done correctly, naturally, and effortlessly. leads to the close. You need to know how to prepare and engage your prospect. 

You need to know how to address both intellectual questions and emotional needs. You need to know the right questions to ask and when to ask them. 

Making sale simple isn’t just asking for money. 

It’s only when you combine the right mindset and the right framework that you can achieve the over top results.
